Why ever didn't I think to take a joke and use it as the basis for a children's picture book? The joke is definitely one kids can relate to, too.BookChookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06230711251425187241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3619064257976283368.post-46920999931525569002011-03-30T09:27:46.556-04:002011-03-30T09:27:46.556-04:00@Liz: Thanks for stopping by! The movie hasn't come to Australia yet, but I'm hoping it will and then there will be a new rush on the books in the library. If you want a subversive Australian book about starting school, read Margaret Wild's Tom Goes to Kindergarten.kinderbookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14024855203956916459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3619064257976283368.post-69203450187386251982011-03-28T06:13:20.486-04:002011-03-28T06:13:20.486-04:00We have been reading the Henry Huggins books, righ...We have been reading the Henry Huggins books, right now we are on Henry Huggins and the Clubhouse. Ramona makes a few cameos in these books, mostly as a pest (as Henry sees here) who gets in the way of Henry's plans. I am always impressed at how independent the children are. In the Henry books, Beezus (age 8 or so) is in charge of her 3 year old sister! I can't imagine my son being willing to take care of his brother for even 5 minutes.Storied Citieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07905014932745432905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3619064257976283368.post-80384309378700809122011-03-27T22:37:45.121-04:002011-03-27T22:37:45.121-04:00My kids and I really liked the Ramona books. I remember my oldest hiding behind trash cans the day they had a substitute; I came home from walking him to school to a phone call from the attendance office asking where he was.Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18005286623073064886noreply@blogger.com
