Library Loot #13

For the kids:

Not pictured: Over and Under the Snow by Kate Messner; Dreams by Ezra Jack Keats, Mama's Saris by Pooja Makhijani (we loved this book and my 4-year-old went around for days afterwards draping her dresses over one shoulder like a sari), Homer the Library Cat by Reeve Lindbergh (yes, that Lindbergh!), Love, Mouserella by David Ezra Stein, Spring Is Here by Will Hillenbrand, I Had A Favorite Dress by Boni Ashburn, Spunky Tells All by Ann Cameron and Blood and Goo and Boogers Too! by Steve Alton, Nick Sharratt and Jo Moore.

For me:

Not pictured: A Mango-Shaped Space by Wendy Mass.

  1. I spy some Cybils books!

I treasured the Little Bear books because I remembered loving them in my turn, but I think my kids mostly tolerated them because they saw I liked them. Frederick was popular though; I don't think I really appreciated Leonni until I read him with my kids.

I find Fancy Nancy annoying, although she isn't as bad as Olivia.

  2. I've heard good things about Berlin Boxing Club, so am looking forward to that one myself.

I loved Deadly - my spoiler-free recommendation here:

Visiting through MotherReader & Lee Wind's Comment Challenge and shall be back!

  3. Nice stacks. Dr Seuss and Little Bear made me nostalgic, not only for my own childhood but for when my children were young enough for me to read these to them. Nowadays their bedtime reading looks more like the last stack.

  4. Lots o' great titles! I keep hearing about Stephen King's new book but wil prolly never read it b/c I am a bit of a scaredy cat. hee hee If I Built a Car is such an amazing book, I spent a whole hour lost in those pages! Enjoy! (also, thanks for visiting my blog!)

  5. Beautiful! And the images make me long for a trip to the library. I live far, far away from them, and because winter travel is minimal, I don't generally check out books in winter. Library books are summer books. In winter, I read from my shelves. The good news is, I have a lot of books.

    Happy reading!

  6. That is one of the great things about city living - we have one library branch 3 blocks away, and another, on the way to my daughter's school, 10 blocks in the other direction.

  7. Hi! I discovered your site through the Comment Challenge - this is a luscious luscious loot indeed! I'm also glad that you mentioned Pooja's Mama's Saris - she's now based here in Singapore :) - we have met several times through the Asian Festival of Children's Content where we both are active participants/contributors.

One of the things that I love the most here in Singapore is the library - but we can only borrow up to eight books! I can see here that you don't seem to have that limit! In my own institution where I am a university lecturer, I can borrow up to 40 titles - so that's a good thing - but boy am I envious by the stack of books you got going in here. Enjoy those delectable picture books!!!! :)
